What will be involved?

Initial Consultation:

The purpose of the initial consultation is to find out more about you and your eating habits, relationship with food, lifestyle and exercise to help us understand your current status and goals to support us in establishing realistic targets.

You are likely to be asked to read and/or complete some or all of the following paperwork;

  1. Client Information and sign Consent Form
  2. Medical History and Health Questionnaire
  3. Nutritional Background Questionnaire
  4. Supplementation Questionnaire (if relevant)
  5. 4-7 day diet diary of all your food, drink and physical activity.

Main Consultation:

Within the main consultation, your practitioner will provide a comprehensive discussion around the results of the 4-7 day dietary analysis alongside other areas gathered within the initial consultation phase.

What are the benefits?

Understand more about current eating habits, develop a healthy relationship with food, improve food and drink choices and behaviours, support athletic performance enhancements or optimise body composition.

You will be provided with a comprehensive personalised dietary analysis report that will notify you of your current macronutrient and micronutrient breakdown and research-informed individualised targets to ensure optimal health and/or performance.

15 minute pre-consultation meeting

1 hour main consultation meeting

Where will it take place?

All sessions will take place online using Microsoft Teams or Zoom software although face-to-face meetings are available upon request.

If additional body composition measures are required, you will be required to visit the Human Performance Centre for these to be undertaken.

For face-to-face sessions you will be able to book a visitors carparking spot which will be located outside of the Sports Centre. Upon arrival, a member of staff will meet you in the reception area of the Sports Centre.

How do I book?

During the booking process, you may be asked to provide additional details around your needs, experience of this type of assessment and other important information to ensure we provide you with the best service possible.

Once completed, you will receive a booking email and be directed to pay online.

Your booking will be fully confirmed via email once payment has been processed.

How do I pay?

Once you have completed your booking process and relevant forms, you will be directed to pay for your consultancy via a link to our online store. Alternatively, you can go straight to our payment page via the button at the top of this page

Do I have to answer all questions or complete the advice provided?

No, it is your choice to respond to questions asked and application of the recommendations is entirely voluntary. You have the right to withdraw at any time. We would encourage you to respond honestly, inform the practitioner if questions are uncomfortable or you would prefer not to answer and discuss reasons why you may not follow the recommendations provided. Your practitioner will ensure your recommendations and personalised and flexible to meet your personal needs and we encourage open dialogue to ensure you are able to be fully invested in the process.

Will my involvement, information collected and data analysed be kept confidential?

Yes, unless you provide specific written evidence that you agree to being named or for your data to be shared, all data will be stored on a secure password protected one drive account and will only be accessible by the Nutrition and Body Composition Staff Team. Please specify if you would like your information to be only accessible by your nominated practitioner.

What are the possible disadvantages and risks of participation?

There are limited risks and disadvantages of participation in nutritional evaluation. You may not agree with dietary recommendations provided to you or meal suggestions but it is your responsibility to share as much information as possible with the consultant in relation to food preferences etc. in the initial client meeting to reduce the chances of this occurring. When adapting food or drink intake from your current diet, there is always the risk of minor gastrointestinal disturbance, feelings of nausea or diarrhoea but these should be short-term effects and you should consult your GP if symptoms prevail beyond 3-4 days. You should be aware that any adverse events experienced as a result of following the dietary recommendations are not the responsibility of the consultant or support team.
